Allen C. Schlinsog, Jr.



Allen C. Schlinsog, Jr. is a shareholder, chair of the firm's Litigation Practice and chair of the Product Liability and Safety Practice Group. His practice focuses on defense of the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Al has represented drug and device companies in significant product liability and mass tort proceedings. He also regularly defends catastrophic injury cases involving a wide variety of products in highly regulated industries, including mining equipment, custom machinery and container handling equipment.

Al is national trial counsel for several manufacturers/distributors of drugs, medical devices and heavy machinery, and has successfully represented these clients in state and federal courts throughout the country.

Representative Matters and Experience

  • Defending an aircraft manufacturer in several suits alleging defects in the aircraft led to fatal accidents
  • Defending novel mass tort claims against a manufacturer of specialty vehicles in which the vehicles are alleged to create toxic diesel exhaust emissions
  • Acting as national counsel for a foreign forklift manufacturer in suits claiming the forklift's design led to fatalities and catastrophic injuries
  • Acting as national counsel in catastrophic injury cases for several manufacturers and distributors of various equipment used to move shipping containers in shipping ports and rail yards
  • Acting as national counsel for a manufacturer of industrial machinery in litigation against suppliers who provided defective parts
  • Acting as national counsel for a medical device manufacturer and distributor in national latex allergy litigation pending in a federal multidistrict litigation proceeding and in state and federal courts throughout the country
  • Defending several medical device manufacturers in actions claiming that defects in our clients' devices caused catastrophic injuries or deaths of patients
  • Acting as regional counsel for manufacturers and distributors of coach-style buses
  • Seeking tens of millions of dollars in damages on behalf of a medical device manufacturer that was forced to recall millions of devices because a material supplier allegedly fraudulently supplied incorrect material that was used to manufacture the devices
  • Representing two pharmaceutical companies in an action brought by the State of Wisconsin, in which the Wisconsin Attorney General is alleging that our clients falsely inflated the prices of its drugs (AWP Litigation)
  • Defending a manufacturer of nutritional supplements for a claim brought by a competitor claiming that our client misappropriated its trade secrets
  • Successfully defeating attempts to stop the development of a $60 million distribution center
  • Regularly advising manufacturers and distributors regarding product development, regulatory matters involving the FDA, warnings issues, supply chain monitoring and risk mitigation strategies
  • Representing food-industry clients in litigation regarding "all-natural" claims
